Lake & loch swimming in the UK
A lake or loch gives you that particular stillness — the surface flat, the water dark, the hills reflected back at you. It's the kind of swim that makes you feel very small and very present at the same time. The Lake District, the Scottish Highlands, Wales, the Peak District — the UK has more accessible lake swimming than most people realise, and water temperatures drop in autumn in a way that the regulars tend to appreciate. Some of the spots here have facilities and organised swims. Others are just a patch of shore and a decision. Both are worth your time.
